Primary activities conducted over the next five years include renovating the building and reimagining the site as a welcoming, interesting, and lively public space. In 2024 we will focus on making the building safe, secure, and weathertight. This activity is central to all future activities of the organization.
The building needs a lot of repairs before its potential is brought to fruition. We estimate the total project will require approximately $500,000, and a lot of love and support from the community. On the outside, it needs new doors and windows, some roof repair, and painting. It needs a full interior gutting, new insulation, wiring, plumbing, and heating. And then it is ready to transform into a wild blueberry themed cultural and community center with a Bold Coast Region visitor information center, historic exhibits; an art gallery, gift shop, and as a space to hold events and workshops!
Transformation of the site into a welcoming community space began in early spring 2023. The CTS Board and Friends will host volunteer days to complete exterior projects that will invigorate the space and draw attention to the work. Events such as a yard sales, a tree sale, participation in Cherryfield Days and Wild Blueberry Weekend, and holiday events will occur throughout the year.
